Linen Fabric
About linen fabric
Linen material is a durable, natural fabric made from fiber found in the flax plant. Linen is a strong fabric which is also very absorbent, however it tends to dry much faster than cotton. Some of the finest linen comes from Europe where the right weather conditions combine to grow the flax plant. For a long time linen fabric was one of the most popular textile materials. Across the globe, many used linen as the main material for clothing and it was the homeware fabric of choice.
Today, linen fabric is used for many of the same purposes that it was used much the same way with linen being especially popular for clothing in hot climates because of its natural light colours and anti-moisture properties.
In addition to the standard shirts, jackets, trousers etc, linen is also a popular fabric for lingerie, underwear and robes. Of course, where linen really excels is when used as a homeware material - tablecloths, napkins, hankies and some hand towels for kitchens and bathrooms.
